Shortened Links

Shortened links are useful for a number of reasons. Of course, you can shorten a long or cumbersome URL. You can have a link that’s more closely associated with your brand even if the original URL isn’t. You can configure some settings relevant to your use of the link that isn’t a part of the original URL. You can also set up tracking and stats data useful to your online marketing. 

Shortened Links can be found near the top of the menu to the left of your dashboard.

There are a number of options from this page.

  1. Shortened URL: Click this button to create a new Shortened Link. Continue to Create a Shortened Link.
  2. Export: Clicking this button allows you to export data concerning your shortened links into CSV, JSON or PDF format for review or data analysis.
  3. Filters: Search or sort the list of links. You can also set the results per page from here.
  4. Shortened Link Name: The name of your link. Clicking this will allow you to change settings for the link. Continue to Edit a Shortened Link.
  5. URL: This is the long URL that your link points to. 
  6. Total Pageviews: Shows the number of times users have gone to the page by using your link. Clicking this will load up statistics about the link.
  7. Created On: Hovering or clicking on this shows the date and time when you created this link.
  8. Updated On: Hovering or clicking on this shows the date and time when you last edited this link.
  9. Change Status: This button toggles the link to be active or inactive. While active, it’ll work as intended to redirect traffic to the long URL.
  10. Copy to Clipboard: This copies your Shortened Link so it can be pasted where you need it.
  11. Opens up a submenu for the Shortened Link.

  1. Edit: Opens up the link for editing. Continue to Edit a Shortened Link.
  2. Statistics: Opens up a page to view the stats for this link, such as total pageviews.
  3. Create QR: Takes you to create a QR Code pointing to this link. Continue to Create a QR Code.
  4. Duplicate: Creates a new Shortened Link with the same settings as the current link.
  5. Delete: Permanently removes the Shortened Link from your account. Make sure you’re certain before clicking this as it cannot be undone.

Create a Shortened Link

On the Shortened links page, click “Shortened URL”.

Then enter your Long URL (the destination you want your link to direct to) and a name for your Short URL (or you can leave it empty to get a randomly generated one).

When you’ve entered both URLs, click “Shorten URL.” This will open up a page to continue editing the details of your Shortened Link. Continue to Edit a Shortened Link.

Edit a Shortened Link

  1. Options for controlling the presence of the Shortened Link. These are the same options that appear on the Shortened Links page (See Shortened Links).
  2. This is your Shortened Link.
  3. Destination URL: This is the “Long URL” that your link directs to. You can enter a new one to change the destination address.
  4. Short URL: This is your Shortened Link’s URL. You can change this here.
  5. App Linking: If your URL leads to a supported app, then you can have the app automatically open on mobile devices by turning it on here.
  6. Pixels: Set which tracking Pixels are active for your link.
  7. Temporary URL: Set your Shortened Link to only be active for a certain time or certain number of clicks.
  8. UTM Parameters: Set up UTM tracking for your various links on your link.
  9. Protection: Set password protection or sensitive content warnings.
  10. Targeting: Set different URLs for different users, such as users with a different device or different country/language. This can also be used for randomized destinations like A/B Testing.
  11. Cloaking: Hide the original URL and display the Shortened URL in the browser from the user’s point of view.
  12. HTTP Status: Configure what HTTP response code should be sent when the user is redirected to the original URL. 
  13. Advanced: Connect the Link to a Project, add a Splash Page when users click the Link or set the link to forward any query parameters with the URL.
  14. Update: Updates your link with the changes from the previous sections. Remember to click this when you’re finished to save your changes.
