Finding Your QR Codes

QR codes are a visual tool that allow visitors to scan with their phone to get links or info. These could be messages, links, events, and many other things. For QR codes on Hook2.us, navigate to “QR codes” on the left menu of your dashboard. You can also find them by clicking your name in the top menu of the homepage.

QR Codes Information

You will see the following information:

  1. Create QR: Click this button to create a QR code.
  2. Export: Download metadata on all your QR codes for review and analysis. Valid formats are CSV, JSON or PDF.
  3. Filters: Search or sort the list of QR codes. You can also set the results per page from here.
  4. Bulk Actions: Clicking here allows you to select multiple QR codes and download or delete them at once.
  5. QR Code Preview: A thumbnail image of your QR code for quick reference and identification.
  6. QR Code Name: The name of your QR code. Clicking this will allow you to change settings for the QR code.
  7. Type: This is the type of the QR code, based on content (Text, URL, Email, etc.).
  8. Project: The project you’ve assigned this QR code to.
  9. Created on: The date you created the QR code on Hook2.us. 
  10. Updated on: The most recent date you updated the QR code.
  11. Download: Download this QR code as an image file. Format options are SVG, PNG, JPG and WEBP. 
  12. Short URL: Only for URL codes. This is the URL that visitors access when they scan the code.
  13. Update: Only for URL codes with a dynamic internal link. Clicking this will take you to a page to update the link within the QR code.
  14. Total pageviews: Only for URL codes with a dynamic internal link. Clicking this will take you to a page to view page views and other stats for the link within the QR code.
  15. Open the submenu:

  1. Edit: Click this to edit your QR code.
  2. Duplicate: Create a new QR code with the same information as the selected one.
  3. Delete: Permanently removes this QR code from your account. Make sure you’re certain before clicking this, as it cannot be undone.

Create a QR Code

From the QR codes page, click “Create QR” on the top-right corner.


Edit the QR code as needed.

Create a QR Code from Another Resource

You can create a QR code for many Hook2.us resources, such as biolinks, vCards and static sites. To do so, navigate to the resource you wish to have a QR for. On the right side of the page next to the resource you want to use, click the three dots and then click “Create QR.


Or you can find “Create QR” under the three dots on the top-right of the edit page.

This will bring up the page to edit the new QR code. The type and appropriate data, such as URL, will be already filled in for you.

Edit a QR Code

From the QR codes page, click on the name of the QR code you wish to edit. If you are creating a new QR code, this page will load automatically.

  1. Type: Select the QR code type. This determines what information the QR code provides when scannedFor example: text will give a message, URL will give a link that the visitor can open, Phone will give the option to start a phone call, Event will allow the visitor to subscribe to an event, etc.
  2. QR Code: A preview of what your QR code looks like. You can scan this with a phone to test that it works as intended.
  3. Name: The name you want to give to your QR code so you can recognize it. It is not included in the code itself.
  4. Project: Assign the QR code to a Hook2.us project so you can keep track of data from many resources together. You can click “Create project” to create a new project from here.
  5. Type-based content: Other content depends on the type of QR code you have. In the example above, a Text QR code requires Text that’s seen by anyone who scans the code. URL codes will require a URL; Phone codes require a phone number; Email codes require a to address, subject and message, etc.
  6. Bulk generation: This only appears when creating a new Text QR code. Allows you to create many at once.
  7. Style: Change the shape of the dots and “eyes” to personalize the look of the QR code. The “eyes” are the large squares in the corners of a QR code.
  8. Colors: Change the color of the QR code to help draw attention or support branding. Color can be solid or gradient. You can adjust the color of the eyes as wellMake sure there’s enough contrast between the foreground and background colors. Most apps need sharp contrast to scan the code. Always test the QR code to make sure it’s readable after changing colors.
  9. Frame: Add a frame around the QR code to help draw attention to it. The frame can include text for branding or a call to action. 
  10. Branding: Include a logo or image on your QR code to help draw attention or support branding. Always test the QR code to make sure it’s readable after adding any images.
  11. Options: More options for the QR code.
  12. Create/Update: This saves your changes to your QR code. If creating a new QR code, this will say “Create.” If editing an existing QR code, this will say "Update.” Remember to click this to save your changes.
  13. Print: Click this to print your QR code. 
  14. Download: Click this to download your QR code as an image file. Format options are SVG, PNG, JPG and WEBP.
  15. Embedded data: Click this to show the data embedded in the QR code. This is what visitors will see when they scan your QR code.
  16. Readability check: This message lets you know if the QR code is readable. It’s always best to also test by scanning with a device to make sure it works in practice. But this message works for a quick check to keep your eye on when you’re making changes to your QR code.


Edit QR Code Options

  1. Size: Changes the size of the QR code when downloaded.
  2. Margin Size: Change the size of the space around the QR code when downloaded.
  3. Error correction capability: The level of error correction. This allows the QR code to remain scannable with a certain amount of damage. The percentage in brackets is how much damage it can withstand without losing data. Always test the QR code to make sure it’s still scannable after adjusting this setting.
  4. Encoding: The type of text encoding the QR code uses for the data it contains. 

Remember to click Update to save any changes.
