Static Sites


Finding Your Static Sites

Static Sites are small, simple websites without need of databases or server processing. If your need is simple enough, this can be a great alternative to hosting a full-featured website. You can upload it here, get a hook2.us short URL and link it right on your biolinks page. 

To create or edit static sites, navigate to “Static sites” on the left menu of your dashboard. You can also find them by clicking on your name in the top menu of the homepage.

Static Sites Information

You will see the following page:

  1. Static site: Click this to create a new static site.
  2. Export: Download data on your static sites in CSV, JSON or PDF format for review or analysis.
  3. Filters: Search or sort the list of sites. You can also set the results per page from here.
  4. Static Site Name: The name of your static site. Clicking this will allow you to change settings for the site.
  5. Static Site URL: The Short URL you’ve assigned to your static site. Clicking this will load your site.
  6. Project: The project you’ve assigned this static site to.
  7. Total pageviews: The total number of times visitors have viewed your static site. Clicking this will load a page to show various other statistics about your static site.
  8. Created on: The date you created the static site on Hook2.us. 
  9. Updated on: The most recent date you updated the static site.
  10. Change Status: Toggle the static site active or inactive. Visitors can't access inactive sites.
  11. Copy to clipboard: Copy the file Short URL to the static site to paste somewhere else.
  12. Open the submenu:

  1. Edit: Click this to edit your static site.
  2. Statistics: View statistics about your static site, such as page views.
  3. Create QR: Takes you to create a QR code based on your static site. This allows visitors to access your site by scanning with their phone.
  4. Duplicate: Creates a new static site with the same information and files as the selected site.
  5. Delete: This permanently removes your static site. Make sure you’re certain before clicking this, as it cannot be undone. Ensure you have a backup of the files as well.

Create a Static Site

From the Static sites page, click on the “Static site” button in the top-right corner.


Then click Choose File to select your static site files. Static sites can either be a single HTML file or a ZIP file containing the website files. 

Note: If uploading a ZIP file containing a static site, it must include an HTML file named index.html. This will be the first page loaded when people visit your static site. Other contents can be any of .css, .js, .html, .jpg, .jpeg, .png, .ico, .svg, .gif, .webp, .ttf, .woff, .woff2, .eot, .otf, .xml, .json, .mp3, .wav, .mp4, .webm, .pdf, or .txt files.

Next, enter a Short URL for your static site. This will be how visitors get to your site.


Finally, click “Create static site” to create your site. Edit as needed.

Edit a Static Site

To edit a static site, from the Static sites page click on the name of the static site you wish to edit. If you just created a new static site, the edit page will load automatically.

  1. Static site URL: This is the Short URL where visitors can access your site. Clicking this will open your static site.
  2. Buttons for controlling the static site. These are the same as on the main page.
  3. HTML or ZIP file: Input for loading a new static site. To change your site files, click Choose File and select the new files from your computer. This will replace your current site files. Ensure you have a backup of the old files before doing this.
  4. Short URL: Enter here to change your short URL. 
  5. Pixels: Set which tracking Pixels are active for your site.
  6. Temporary URL: Set your static site to only be available for a limited time or a certain number of clicks.
  7. Protection: Set password protection or sensitive content warnings on the site. 
  8. Advanced: Connect the site to a project or add a splash page when visitors load the site.
  9. Update: Updates your static site with the changes from the previous sections. Remember to click this when you’re finished to save your changes.
